David Hockney "Sun on the Pool"  1982 

This summer we at Juju Papers have been thinking a lot about David Hockney's series of pool paintings. Not just because we live in Portland, where swimming pools are rarer than palm trees, but because the quality of his pool series has a timely resonance with current design trends. Everything about his paintings fits so well with contemporary style and decor: the lines, the colors, and the content. It got us thinking, is it possible to create David Hockney vibes in decor by integrating Juju Papers wallpaper? The answer is yes!

We probably all had an aunt or grandmother growing up who had a funky pink bathroom. Well, we couldn't be happier to see these pink fixtures making a comeback in so many of our customers' modern bathrooms! Instead of ripping out those original, vintage fixtures we love the idea of keeping them and updating the look with Juju Papers.

One of our favorite examples is the home of Ruth Hevelone of @rudyfrankcottage (who kindly took these photos for us). Taking into account not only the retro cool factor of her pink sink and toilet, but the fact that keeping the existing fixtures is both the most economical and eco-friendly option, Ruth brought some modern lightness to her powder room with Juju Papers Sisters of the Sun in Gold on Cream. Here at Juju Papers we've noticed a trend among designers, who are using our wallpaper in nurseries and kids rooms more and more often. This had us asking, what do designers love about Juju for kids rooms and nurseries? It's an exciting day here at Juju HQ - not only do we get to announce the release of a new wallpaper design but we're thrilled to be featured on one of our favorite design blogs: Design Sponge! So what's this about a new wallpaper? Barn Owls and Hollyhocks is the first Juju Papers wallpaper collaboration and features original art by NY Times Bestselling author and illustrator Carson Ellis. Carson created this charming and elegant design after moving to a small farm, where a family of barn owls on her property played an important role as she settled in. Later, while converting a small room in the house to a library she was inspired to design her own wallpaper. Carson worked her magic, incorporating barn owls with other favorites including butterflies, tendrils, and hollyhocks into her design, and Juju brought the wallpaper to life.  Each roll of Juju Papers is screen printed by hand in small batches with water-based ink on durable, environmentally responsible paper and Barn Owls and Hollyhocks is no exception! Available in Gold on Charcoal, Silver on Cream, Rose Gold on Cream, and Gold on Cream, this lovingly inspired pattern is sure to brighten your walls with it’s warmth and charm.

They resolved to cover both the wall and doors in Juju Paper’s artful Pas de Trois, which gave the neglected pass-through the illusion of depth, plus the gravitas of a larger room. “We love using wallpaper—it’s one of those classic materials that always elevates a space, taking it to the next level of texture and depth,” says Aventajado'. We at Juju Papers couldn't be more thrilled to be featured on Architectural Digest as part of this creative New York family home remodel headed by Current Interior designers Xandro Aventajado and Rachel Kane. Bypassing the traditional route of minimalism in favor of 'lush layers, tonal textures, and bold prints' Xandro and Rachel used wallpaper in unique ways including covering doors - an idea we really love!
